The Museum is committed to maintaining a safe and secure environment. This policy is a proactive step towards reducing risks associated with intentional or accidental use of weapons regardless of whether a federal or state license to possess the same has been issued to the possessor. Please show your badge and official Department ID to our security personnel if you are carrying a weapon. We ask that you sign in and out so that we know you are on the premises. No, to enter the Museum, your group must include a child. The museum is designed for children 0 to 12 years of age and their families. Children younger than 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. Private events for adult audiences are exceptions. If you’re an adult without a child interested in visiting the Museum during regular business hours, you may schedule an appointment with our administrator. A valid ID or driver’s license must be presented upon arrival.

Yes! The main contact can forward the Digital Membership email they received to other registered adults. You can download the card in their name to your phone. We’ll confirm with valid I.D. that you're listed on the account when you visit our Box Office.

No, visitors cannot bring outside food into the Museum. You may choose from a healthy and varied selection of food items in our Fresh Café. Please do not eat in the exhibit galleries. There are plenty of tables at the Fresh Café, alongside Kids’ Hall and outside at the picnic tables. The Fresh Café offers a number of dining choices, hand-made with fresh ingredients and preservative-free breads.
Parking for Children’s Museum Houston is available across the street in the Museum’s parking lot at affordable parking rates. Metered and free parking are also available around the neighboring streets. Please do not park in a “no parking zone.”
Yes, all hallways, exhibits and restrooms are handicap accessible. Those requiring assistance or parents with strollers wishing to reach the second level of the How Does It Work? or PowerPlay exhibits may use the wheelchair/stroller lifts. Visitors wanting to use these lifts should visit the Box Office and leave an ID for an access key. Sound reduction head phones and wheelchairs are also available.
We’re action-packed, so dress comfortably. We strongly recommend that children wear closed-toed shoes (no Crocs, flip-flops or bare feet). The Power Tower requires all participants to closed-toed shoes to participate. Proper attire, including shoes and shirts, must be worn at all times. Children’s Museum Houston is a family-oriented environment. Please dress appropriately.

Free admission is available to everyone every Thursday night, 5 pm to 8 pm. The only requirements are that you bring a child with you.
Members of the ASTC Passport Program are eligible for free general admission to museums located more than 90 miles from their affiliated museum. Members may receive free admission for the number of people designated by their corresponding membership level. We recommend you reserve your tickets in advance to guarantee admission. Admits only household family members, or grandparents and grandchildren, up to six people.
You will need to present your membership card at the box office to gain admission.
Lone Star Card admission program allows general free admission for up to 6 individuals receiving TANF, SNAP and WIC benefits. Card holders must present their award letter for the current month or, the app on their phone with their expiration date, a recent receipt that shows that they are using their cards. The Lone Star Card holder of record must be present to gain admission WIC recipients may show their current shopping list or a store receipt that shows the date within the month that they’re visiting.
The Open Doors Program works with non-profit organizations to ensure everyone visits Children’s Museum Houston. Open Doors passes are distributed to more than 1,100 non-profit community agencies that serve low-income families. These agencies distribute the passes to the people they serve. An Open Doors pass allows a family of four to enter the Museum free of charge.
Membership generally pays for itself in three visits. Children’s Museum Members receive unlimited free admission for a full year! Members also receive a variety of benefits, from discounts in Fiddle Sticks Toys and parking, to invitations and special members-only events. Memberships may be purchased online or upon arrival.

With our team of experienced educators, we’ve created a suggestion list on each exhibit page of what you and your toddler can do in our exhibits! The Museum continuously integrates and promotes key executive functions of the brain; those functions are filtering distractions, prioritizing tasks, goal-setting and achieving and controlling impulses. Our lists of activities can help your tot develop those key executive functions essential in childhood development.

Of course! Additional missions are $9.95 each and include the same spy gear. You can pay for any extra Agents at HQ during the party.
Return within 7 days to complete your assigned mission using your free guest pass. After 7 days, you can still use your return guest pass, but additional missions are $9.95 as long as you have your wrist codex.
Each mission includes specially designed gear to assist Agents in completing their mission—including a wrist codex. Spy gear is theirs to keep, but don’t lose it—bring it back to use for future missions!

Outside food is not permitted on Museum property. If you plan to have lunch while away from your site, plan to eat before or after your visit.
Our staff carefully monitors the Museum’s facilities around the clock. We work hard to ensure children enjoy play time in a safe and clean environment. Please ensure that all children in your group are well. We ask that you not bring in a sick child to the Museum. We reserve the right to ask any visitor who is sick to leave the Museum.
In order to maintain social distancing, Field Experiences require a chaperone ratio of 1 chaperone for every 10 students; Teachers are included in this chaperone ratio. Chaperone tickets are free to achieve this ratio. Additional chaperone tickets may be purchase if needed.
Unfortunately we do not have any of these items available when you host an event with us. Your caterer should be able to accommodate; please inform them in advance so they can plan accordingly.
The Museum is supported through income generated by usage fees and generous contributions from Houston’s philanthropic community. Approximately 65 percent of the operating budget is earned through admissions, memberships, rentals and concessions, while 35 percent is contributed by corporations, foundations and individuals. Nearly 90 percent of the Museum’s operating budget is devoted to education and visitor services. Any donation is always appreciated.
