Developed in partnership with the University of Texas Children's Learning Institute and Houston Public Library, FLIP Kits can be borrowed for free from any of 39 Houston-area library branches, including the Museum's Parent Resource Library. The Kits are divided into five age groupings - infant, toddler, Pre-K, K-1st grade and 2nd and 3rd grade. Many are available in both English and Spanish, with several others in Chinese, Vietnamese, Urdu, and Arabic.
Each FLIP Kit contains a high-quality children’s book and everything needed to do a related activity (except water!) More than 2,400 FLIP kits are available for check out from the Houston Public Library for use at home.
How does it work?
In addition to a high-quality children’s book, all kits include a Developmental Milestones sheet, information on the Basics Houston and a survey to provide feedback to Children's Museum Houston (CMH). Parents, who complete the survey and return it with their kit, may receive passes good for six individuals to visit the Museum free of charge!
