The A’STEAM program provides children with a variety of small group design challenges and experiments, STEAM vocabulary and knowledge. Partners use kits on a rotating basis and complete weekly activities with students during the school year at 150+ neighborhood YMCA’s and afterschool centers throughout the Greater Houston area.
A’STEAM activities have a subtle and important impact for children to begin to see themselves as being up to the challenge of STEAM learning, while appreciating the real-world relevance of STEAM-based investigations.
The A’STEAM program engages roughly 4,500 elementary school-age children every school year with projects and experiments that bring real-life context to the STEAM disciplines.
Program runs October - May.
