Therapy pets, inspiring films, and Houston Ballet take center stage at Children’s Museum Houston’s exclusive event

HOUSTON (Jan. 27, 2025) — Children’s Museum Houston invites families with children with sensory processing differences to its upcoming Sensory Friendly Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 10, 2025.  This special event offers a supportive and engaging environment tailored to children with sensory sensitivities, ensuring every family can enjoy a day of learning and fun at the Museum.

 

As a proud KultureCity Certified Sensory Inclusive™ venue, Children’s Museum Houston is dedicated to ensuring an inclusive and welcoming experience for all guests. From sensory bags to quiet spaces, we’re here to help families feel at ease as they explore our innovative exhibits.

 

Pre-registration is required to ensure your spot for this incredible day!

 

WHAT TO EXPECT

This event will feature reduced noise levels, dimmed lighting, and exclusive attendance to create a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. Families can explore hands-on exhibits and participate in activities designed to inspire curiosity and discovery. Highlights include:

 

Sensory Friendly Storytime (Sponsored by Phillips 66): Interactive storytelling sessions.

When:  At 10:30 and 11:30 a.m., and 12:30 p.m. in the Parent Resource Library.

Faithful Paws: Relax with gentle, friendly therapy animals.

When:  From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Kid’s Hall.

ReelAbilities Film Festival Screenings: Enjoy Deaf Giants and 4 Quarters of Silence.

When:  From 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Brown Auditorium.

Houston Ballet: Experience the grace of ballet with an interactive workshop.

When:  From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in New Kids Hall.

Cool Down Room: A quiet retreat for families located on the second floor.

Where:  In Celebrations Room available throughout the event.
