Get ready to celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.! Children’s Museum Houston invites you to an unforgettable day filled with inspiration, creativity, and community spirit during the 29th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Celebration. Let’s come together to honor Dr. King’s dream of unity, justice, and peace with exciting activities and performances which will engage your whole family.
SPECIAL EVENTS: (Starting at Noon)
- Musical Medley: Kick things off with Dr. Kiana Williams’ electrifying rendition of "Lift Every Voice and Sing."
- Dynamic Performance: Feel the rhythm as Ministry in Motion brings energy with an inspiring dance performance.
- Peace March: Join hands with the Kids’ Committee for a moving Peace March down Kid’s Hall to the Alcove stage.
- Historic Reenactment: Experience history as actor Steve Scott delivers a stirring reenactment of Dr. King’s iconic “I Have a Dream” speech.
- Musical Tribute: Let Dr. Kiana Williams’ soulful performance of “A Change is Gonna Come” stir your heart.
ACTIVITIES:
- Dove Garland: Spread the message of peace by designing a dove garland in Kid’s Hall.
- Dream Art: Turn your hopes and aspirations into colorful cloud art in Kid’s Hall.
- MLK Story time and Peace Doves sponsored by Phillips 66: Join us for a special reading celebrating Dr. King’s legacy, followed by a hands-on activity creating "Unity Peace Doves."When: At 2 and 3 p.m. in Parent Resource Library.
