Chaired by Devorah Krieger and Ashley Sloan

HOUSTON (March 10, 2025) – Children’s Museum Houston and event co-chairs Devorah Krieger and Ashley Sloan powered up an unforgettable afternoon at the 2025 Friends and Families Luncheon, featuring the inspirational Dr. Amy Shah. Held on March 6 at River Oaks Country Club, the event left more than 275 guests feeling refreshed, recharged, and ready to take on the world—one mindful moment at a time!

Dr. Shah, a leading expert in integrative medicine, nutrition, and wellness, took the stage with a powerful message on overcoming burnout, fatigue, and stress. As the bestselling author of “I'm So Effing Tired: A Proven Plan to Beat Burnout,” “Boost Your Energy,” and “Reclaim Your Life,” she delivered a wake-up call (without the caffeine!) on how parents and caregivers can reclaim their energy while juggling the demands of family life. Her practical, science-backed approach to sleep, nutrition, and mindfulness had attendees nodding along in agreement—and perhaps vowing to get a little more shut-eye.

The Friends and Families Luncheon wasn’t just about inspiring words—it was about action! Raising an impressive sum of nearly $180,000, proceeds from the event will directly support Children’s Museum Houston’s early childhood and parenting programs, ensuring more families have access to vital educational experiences. These programs help parents build essential skills, understand child development, and, most importantly, connect with their little ones through the joy of learning.

KHOU 11 Meteorologist Chita Craft lit up the room with her signature charm and radiant energy, seamlessly guiding guests through an afternoon of inspiration and generosity. As the event’s mistress of ceremonies, she brought a spark of warmth and enthusiasm, captivating attendees while underscoring the power of community in making a lasting impact.

Excitement reached new heights as guests eagerly awaited the highly anticipated raffle drawing, where incredible prizes added an extra layer of thrill to the afternoon. Luck was on Amanda Pickering’s side as she won a dreamy day trip to Round Top, promising a perfect getaway filled with charm and discovery. Yalda Hamadanian scored the ultimate retreat—a luxurious weekend at the Omni Barton Creek, where relaxation and breathtaking views await. Lindsey Engleman’s raffle ticket turned into a golden opportunity with a coveted King Ranch gift card, while Patricia Wenzel’s luck led her straight to a delectable dining experience with a gift card to Il Bracco. The raffle added an extra spark of excitement, sending lucky winners home with unforgettable prizes while raising vital support for Children's Museum Houston’s mission of transforming communities through innovative child-centered learning that improves the trajectories of all children.

The luncheon’s success blossomed even further thanks to the generosity of local businesses that added a touch of beauty and sweetness to the occasion. Central Market’s stunning floral centerpieces transformed the venue into an elegant haven, setting the stage for an afternoon of inspiration. Meanwhile, The Village Bakery Houston sprinkled in an extra dose of joy with delightful cookie party favors, leaving guests with a sweet reminder of the meaningful cause they came together to support.
