This dynamic series of 12 free workshops sponsored by the Freeman Foundation pairs Houston-based artists with talented local teachers to guide young creatives through unique, hands-on experiences. Come learn about culture, explore art techniques, and express your creativity!
Each of the 12 workshops offers a new, exciting lesson on East Asian arts and craft techniques. Participate by signing up outside of the workshop location!

Workshop #1: Loc Huynh (artist) Ana Storer(teacher)
Color Theory for Kids: Get ready to explore the exciting world of art with two hands-on projects! Learn about complementary colors and design your own slot sculpture to create a one-of-a-kind 3D masterpiece. Then, roll up your sleeves and paint a vibrant collaborative mural using acrylics and fun techniques inspired by the bold and colorful art style of artist Loc Huynh. This workshop is all about creativity, color, and teamwork- perfect for kids who love to create!

Loc Huynh (Artist)
Loc Huynh graduated with a BFA from Texas State University in 2016 and an MFA from the University of North Texas in 2020. Huynh has held solo and group exhibitions nationally and internationally. His work has been featured in New American Paintings, Juxtapoz, Dallas Morning News, and Southwest Contemporary, among other publications. Huynh has also participated in the Vermont Studio Center Residency (Johnson, VT), Wassaic Project (Wassaic, NY), Bunker Projects (Pittsburgh, PA), Asia Society Texas’s Artist on Site (Houston) and was part of the Lawndale Artist Studio Program (Houston). He currently lives and works in Houston, TX.
Ana Storer (Teacher)
Ana Storer is an art teacher with a lifelong passion for the arts, which began at the age of seven. Born in Puerto Rico and raised in New Orleans, she draws inspiration from her rich cultural background. Art is in her blood, and she has had the privilege of partnering with organizations to share her creativity with youth worldwide. Through teaching and community engagement, Ana continues to inspire the next generation of artists.
